It's July 24th and in Utah that means it's Pioneer Day. This is observed as a holiday for most businesses except Praxair where Ned works. What a bummer. He had to work while the rest of the Utah didn't. Our Pioneer Day was pretty normal except for the very beginning.

Ned decided that we needed a security system. After much debate, we settled on an ADT system. They also have the misfortune of working on the 24th, and were scheduled to arrive at our house between 8AM and 12PM. I decided that I should hurry and shower and get as ready as possible before they showed up. No sooner had I jumped out of the shower did the doorbell ring. This was at 8:10. I answered the door in my pink bathrobe with a towel wrapped around my head. That was great. Once the guy got here, he started asking a million questions and I was showing him all the doors and what not. Here I am in nothing but a bathrobe with Abby in nothing but a onesie. I finally asked the guy if he would excuse me while I ran and got dressed. At least the guy wasn't too creepy.

Needless to say they were here until 12. Another van and technician showed up to help because it was a somewhat difficult task to wire our old home. It never fails to be a production when we have something done on our home. When DirecTV installed our new HD satellite, 8 trucks came. When Barlow installed the new heat and air, four trucks came for a total of three days. This old house hates change and makes it very difficult.
Once the system was installed Abby and I headed off to Beus Pond for a picnic with Erin and her kids. Erin's mom Chris, sister Steph, and niece Emma also joined us. The four children had a blast. Erin's mom graciously treated us all to KFC for lunch. The kids swung on the swings, went down slides and ran free. They loved it. Once the park novelty had worn off, we headed to the pond to "feed" the ducks. This was enjoyed as well. Rachel being the eldest, threw her bread and called the ducks and we didn't have to worry too much about her walking in the pond. Abby threw her bread, quacked like a duck, and tried to walk into the water. GROSS! Josh ate the stale bread. It was a fun day.

For our official 24th BBQ we headed to my parents house. We had dinner and then lit fireworks. The best part of our firework show was how excited Abby was. She was mesmerized by the fireworks, and her favorite job was handing the next firework to her Grandpa to light with the blow torch. It was great to see such delight on her face.
We hope you all enjoyed your Pioneer Day!

Looks like you all had fun, glad that Abby didn't take after her dad and fall in the duck pond :). He stunk for days. Love ya Neddy.
Abby is so cute! I don't even think I've ever seen her. How pathetic is that? Owen is always pulling Ned faces. I giggle sometimes because he reminds me of a pretty Ned. (Not that I think you're ugly Ned.)
