I got home last night from dinner at Rooster's (restaurant on Ogden's Historic 25th street) with some friends, and we didn't have very good customer service...more about that later. I read my cousin Holly's blog, and she had also had a few bad customer service experiences; this inspired me to share my story. To read about Holly's experiences click here: Seriously this is funny! http://leviandfaith.blogspot.com/2009/03/my-beef-with-customer-service-these.html Thanks Holly - I've been inspired. Now to our awful night. Let me begin by saying that our meals were good. The presentation was beautiful and we really enjoyed what we ate. It was the service! Me, my friends Besty and Katherine and Katherine's little boy Brycen, and my Abby went to Rooster's last night. We didn't wait for a table, which we thought was a good sign. Then we had this waiter that, in my opinion, soils to good name of waiter. He took our order for our appetizer and then never brought our water. We finally got the appetizer at the same time as our water..mistake #1. We then waited forever! We needed our water filled and so the bus boy did it....Mistake #2. Did I mention that our main order has not been taken yet? Mistake #3. Finally, he took our order. We just kept waiting and waiting for our salads. Finally our salads came just before the main dish. You should have those LONG before the entree... Mistake #4. Then with two toddlers at our table we hoped and truly expected to get the kid's meals before ours. NOPE! We got the adult entrees first! Mistake #5. Then he brought out the kid's meals and we could eat. Once again our water was empty. Thank you Mr. Bus Boy. Mistake #6! We then got dessert and that took FOREVER! I went to the car and changed a diaper, came back and still no dessert! This poor guy was not a multi-tasker...he brought everything in pieces. He didn't bring Abby's little ice cream until our dessert was almost GONE! Mistake #7. We finally got to leave that place after TWO HOURS from sitting down to getting the check. Now imagine that two hours with two little kids (who were pretty well behaved). AHHH!
Now, let me say that I have waited tables for the better part of 10 years! I have to say that I was a dang good waitress! I do not deserve to have a server that is an idiot! I have worked hard for my customer including going into the kitchen to place special orders, making people's salad bar for them, and mixing weird drinks for little kids. This guy goes down in my book as one of the worst!
Rooster's you need to train server's better or something. I love Rooster's but I won't be going back there anytime soon. Awful service...Awful!

People think being a decent server is easy. It's not. However, I don't think it's that hard either, not if you have a fully functioning brain, are good at anticipating the customers needs, or even just mildly observant.
I used to be generous and think, aw maybe they're really busy. Not anymore. Unless the place is packed or there is only one person doing everything, I no longer have sympathy. I must be turning into an old man.
But when I do get a good server I always leave an excellent tip (much to Wade's dismay).
You and Holly should be critics for newspapers or something. I love how you both write. Sorry you had a bad experience but it was funny to read!
We had a bad experience with them a couple of years ago and haven't been back. It is too bad they haven't turned things around.
I hate bad service. We have only been there once and the service was so bad we have never gone back. Maybe we had the same waiter, I could have written your post. Next time we will just come and find you at Sandy's!!
