I usually try to get a couple posts in between the Missionary ones, but this week I didn't. There's not much to tell, sick kid, soar teeth, soar ears, no sleep, a short trip to Boise, and errands. This leaves you "Missionary Monday"....

"Well, currently I am sitting in a little coffee shop type place on the corner of a big intersection in Rosario. Funes is a 30 minute bus ride away from Rosario. Let me start by saying that I am almost positive I have been transferred to typical small town America. I was walking down the street trying to think of where I felt like I was... and then I realized...I'm pretty sure I live in "Everwood"..... hahaha...except I´m not kidding. Funes is a little weekend town where all of the rich Rosario people have "weekend houses". I also kind of think it's Bear Lake... haha. All of the streets are lined with lamposts every 30 feet or so, and there are large trees that cover the roads. They have sidewalks, and gutters and it doesn't smell like burning garbage...haha. Well in Rufino it was all really poor and every street had open sewers and they didn't have a garbage system so everyone just burned their garbage in the street, so it always just smells like burning garbage and sewage. But here, it was so weird, I was walking down the street and I smelled a cake or something getting baked.... it was so weird. haha.. and I'im not kidding one of the members houses that we went to smells like our house.. I walked in and for the first time realized that our house has a "smell" haha.. it was so weird. The "centro" of the town, is just a bunch of little really, really, really, fancy stores.. and there are really expensive restaurants that are really fancy too. The poorest of the houses here look like the nice houses in Rufino.. okay.. except for maybe the 2 streets in Rufino that had big houses....but it is a REALLY nice town."
"Our apartment is just as nice. We live on the top floor of a house and it is really nice. It's got really nice clean normal tile, marble countertops, a seperate shower with a curtain - that's not right next to the toilet like everywhere else - and nice wooden beamed ceilings. I did not have to clean this one haha! It is very, very nice. All of the houses seem just like really nice houses except for the MANSIONS that take up entire city blocks. I can see through the gates and shrubs that they have gazebos and pool houses, and tennis courts and giant ponds and gardens.. they are so rich.... almost all of the house here have pools. Right now they are full of gross water, but some have been getting them ready to go for spring i guess."
"Our area has been a little tough this week.. I think the lack of humility has a little bit to do with it, but the members here are really, really good and they live in Funes!!!!!! haha it's a change. So I'm sure we will be able to get a lot of references from them and work with them. We also have another little pueblo next to Funes called Roldán where we can work, but it's far and would prefer to work in Funes. I don´t know though. Our church is an old big house built in 1810. It's really cool. It's got a giant backyard with all different types of fruit trees. and we go to church for 3 hours here! I have already eaten at member´s houses 3 times! Tripling the amount I had in Rufino. But it was really sad to leave Rufino and all of the people there. Last week when I got to Rosario we went to Mcdonalds.. oh my goodness... it was so good.. the big mac has 3 patties.. it was worth every peso... I got my food and just started eating it without thinking.. it seemed so natural hahahhaa." "Well I am in Rosario right now because we are going to go to the Flag Monument. wikipedia it.. haha.. its a lot bigger than it looks in pictures but im excited to go! I´m excited for this transfer and all I will be able to do here!"
I did Wikipedia it, and that is the picture I found. - Mel
