Abby asks EVERY SINGLE DAY, "Mom, is Santa coming tonight?" I knew the year would come when she'd finally understand about Santa and it would be hard to wait for Christmas. To alleviate the nagging questions I decided to have her make a paper chain. Brilliant and oh so teachery if I do say so myself. I told her that we'll take off one circle every night before we go to bed and when they're all gone, Santa will come. I thought this would work, but I'm not sure why. I was definitely wrong. The other morning she said, "Mom, is Santa coming tonight?" I told her no and explained the idea of taking one circle off a day and when they're all gone Santa would be coming...again. Pretty soon I noticed that she was taking the circles off. I caught her abou the time that the third one hit the trash. I'm sure she thought, "Well if it's as simple as taking these stupid circles off I might as well get busy." Silly, smart girl. Happy beginning of the holiday season!!

What a smart little girl! At least she doesn't ask (more like beg and whine) if we can go to the North Pole to see Santa yet. That's starting to get old!
