Missionary Monday on Thursday

Yeah, I'm late with the post.  It's birthday month at our house so I'm a little preoccupied.  Also, the constant ear infections in both kids is distracting for sure.  Also, today is Nathan's hump day. He's been on his mission for one whole year!  It's all down hill from here!

March 7, 2011:
"Hello Family!!!  Well, I'm finally writing you today! I only have a little bit of time before I have to go to bed, but it has been a good day. The week was a lot of fun too. A bit crazy but it all worked out in the end. This week with transfers it was so stressful, but by the end of the week it was good. I think I have done pretty well on my own this week, I've only had to call Elder Mitchell a couple of times so I guess that means he did a pretty good job training me. Haha.  Well Alex got confirmed yesterday, and is doing well. We are teaching his mom now. His dad is a member, but doesn´t like it, but we are hoping that the mom will come around. This week we about died..... My companion Elder Seguel told me that he knew how to drive an automatic normal car but struggled with a manual.. well, since he has his license, I decided that he would drive Presidents car with me to get it serviced.. So we pull out of the driveway (after saying a death shielding prayer) he takes his foot off of the brake and asks me why the car wasn´t going……………………………………………… He was unaware you had to push on the gas pedal!   So I'm thinking what am I supposed to do?  He starts to turn and flips on the windshield wipers instead of the blinker….. so after a couple close calls with some semis I made him pull into the grocery store parking lot and wait until another Elder with a license could come and rescue us…. Our companionship will not be driving until my license comes…."

"The worst part about the week was that a few of the nights we were unable to leave the offices and work for a few hours, we had some meeting with President, things with the new missionaries, and other things that were dumb to have to do.. I am getting to be really good things with President and his wife. I love Sister Villalba, I can joke with her a lot. They are so funny. During our barbecue this week, we were trying to get some free revelation from them on our futures, so they were telling us  what we would all do for work in our lives, and they told everyone their careers, except for when they got to me President just said,  "Elder Richey will be rich," and that was all hahahahahahaha!
Well in one of our meeting President told us that he was going to be taking our planners and area books to a meeting to show the Area Presidency…. (Seventies)… because the assistants travel too much and he wants a normal agenda… So that´s a motivator to plan better I guess…….. This week will be a fun week I´m sure for you guys with Abby´s birthday. It looks like the party yesterday was really fun too!! I can´t believe it was a year ago that we were at her party the day before I left.  Time flies!! I love being here on the mission learning and growing so much.  I can look back on the year that I have had and really see a lot of changes and growth that has happened in this short amount of time. My testimony and love for the gospel have grown more than anything, and I have a much better perspective on the purpose of my life. I am very excited for this upcoming year that I will have. I'm sure the time will pass just as fast, but I know I will continue to grow. I´m grateful to have this experience in my life. I know the church is the Savior´s. I know we are God´s children.  I´m grateful to be a member of the only church that makes all of the blessings of heaven available to us.  I hope you all have a great week!! I love you guys!!!!!!!!!!!
