I found this idea on Pinterest and thought it was something I could actually do. Most of that stuff makes me feel so....inadequate. There were a couple of other versions of this: one was done on burlap (I worried that it would fray) the other one was out of paint chips (I feared all the different colors would bug me), so I went with and adaptation of sorts:
I found the frame "on sale" at Michael's. I liked that it was black, large and chunky. I used some muslin that I had left over from some other project. Then I drew the calender template on with a washable blue pen and a yard stick - I knew I brought 10 of those home from school for a reason. After that, I traced over all of it with a black sharpie. I added a 'notes' section off to the side because I always have things to remember. I then located a scrap of red fabric and cute out that beautiful 'W'. It stands for Wallis - in case you were wondering. After a small snafu with the spray glue, I stitched the 'W' onto the fabric using embroidery floss. To top it off, I got some Velcro stickies and a dry erase marker and there you have it - our new calender. Note: the marker works oh so much better if it hangs there upside down.
My first project from Pinterest. I sort of have a goal to do one a month. Sort of.

You are so brave. I haven't even dared enter that site yet. I'm afraid that I'll find tons I want to do and then have it turn out horrible because I am SO not the crafty type. So I'm saving myself the disappointment. haha. Awesome calendar though! I love it!
Very cute! Great way to start a new year!
